Basic Processes:

Basic processes are what allow children early in life to learn and remember. We need basic processes to develop higher functioning memory.

Strategies:

Strategies are tools that we use to help extend our short term memory. They are tools that we use deliberatley to help us remember.

Explicit Memory:

Let me ask you question, can you remeber your first date? Think about who you went out with, where you went, what you were feeling. Can you see yourself that night? When you intentionally try to recall a certain event or experience you are using explicit memory.

Implicit Memory:

It is said that you never forget how to ride a bike. Even if it has been several years you can hop on a bike and instantly remember how, it is unconscious and unintentional memory. Implicit memory is commonly known as "memory without awarness"(Goswami 1998).
